After nine years of transformative leadership, Claudia Hepburn has informed the Board that she will step down as CEO of Windmill Microlending this Fall. Claudia has agreed to assume the role of Co-Chair of Windmill’s Campaign Cabinet.
The Board of Directors is deeply appreciative of Claudia’s contribution to Windmill and her commitment to the organization and its impact over the past nine years. The Veritas Foundation has ranked Windmill as one of Canada’s fastest growing and most impactful charities.
Under Claudia’s leadership, Windmill has grown the number of clients served by tenfold. Windmill has also broadened its client supports to include financial literacy training, mentorship and an alumni program, while expanding its loan products to meet the needs of more newcomers. Windmill’s loan book has also grown tenfold to over $60 million in this period and has delivered over 15,000 loans to new Canadians in fields such as healthcare, engineering and technology. Claudia is leaving an accomplished team ready to support even greater numbers of skilled new Canadians in need.
The Board of Directors and Claudia are committed to a smooth transition at Windmill. It has initiated a formal CEO succession process and struck a search committee to lead the recruitment of Windmill’s next CEO.
