Windmill Microlending earns prestigious AA 5-star rating from Veritas Foundation for second consecutive year

The Veritas Foundation is a Canadian charitable research organization that evaluates charities based on their financial transparency, governance, impact and alignment with their mission. This recognition places us among the top charitable organizations in Canada, reflecting our commitment to financial transparency, governance excellence and meaningful social impact.

The Veritas Foundation’s assessment evaluated our performance across four key pillars:

  • Strategy: Alignment with our mission to support skilled immigrants and refugees as they build successful careers in Canada. With a score of 89%, our mission-driven approach continues to guide every aspect of our operations.
  • Financial performance: Achieving a Return on Charity Capital (ROCC) of $4.71, meaning every $1 donated to Windmill generates $4.71 in value. This performance exceeds the average range of $2.00 - $2.25 for all charities.
  • Governance: Scoring 100% on compliance and filings, with strong standards in governance and management effectiveness.
  • Impact: Windmill’s programs continue to deliver positive results, earning high scores for social impact (95%) and program evaluation (93%). We are committed to continually enhancing our approach by providing clear, measurable goals for our outcomes.

Additionally, the Veritas Foundation noted Windmill’s impressive scale-up potential, projecting that we could double our impact over the next five years based on current financial performance trends.
