WES and Windmill join forces to help skilled immigrants and refugees

If an education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic can help you achieve career success in Canada, Windmill can help you afford it.

About Windmill Microlending

Windmill Microlending is a Canadian non-profit offering low-interest career loans to help newcomers pay for the education they need to succeed in Canada. Since 2005, Windmill has supported over 15,000 immigrants and refugees to overcome underemployment and succeed in their careers.

We partner with institutions to help their members cover costs of tuition, accreditation, relocation and living costs. Our affordable loans are designed to meet the unique needs of immigrant clients, who often cannot access mainline credit, by providing a fixed interest rate that is lower than other financing options.

Ebrahim is a lawyer from Syria who arrived in Canada as a refugee in 2015. Unfortunately, the Syrian civil war frustrated his dreams to start a career in his home country. However, in Canada, he wanted to take advantage of the many available opportunities. Before starting the licensing process in Canada, Ebrahim had his legal education credentials evaluated. He needed to complete eight law school courses –a long and expensive process. Ebrahim was worried because money was tight, but luckily, he found out about Windmill. He applied, and his loan was approved in a week. Once Ebrahim finishes school, his main goal is to practice law in Ontario.
