Windmill Microlending is a Canadian non-profit offering low-interest career loans to help newcomers pay for the education they need to succeed in Canada. Since 2005, Windmill has supported over 12,500 immigrants and refugees to overcome underemployment and succeed in their careers.
We partner with institutions to help their members cover costs of tuition, accreditation, relocation and living costs. Our affordable loans are designed to meet the unique needs of immigrant clients, who often cannot access mainline credit, by providing a fixed interest rate that is lower than other financing options.
Western Community College has been transforming communities through its quality education since 2012. Through our diverse range of 56 undergraduate, postgraduate, and bachelor’s programs, students have found success and fulfillment as they pursue and advance careers in healthcare, hospitality, accounting, information technology, and business management. We have a unique policy of providing individualized attention to each student by consistently maintaining an appropriate instructor-to-student ratio and helping every student develop a career plan that meets their objectives for career development.

Anoop believes he wouldn’t be where he is today without Windmill’s support. When Anoop first applied to Windmill, he was working in a textile sorting plant and says he had a lot to learn about the Canadian financial system and how loans worked in Canada. Thankfully, he had an understanding and supportive Windmill client success coach to walk him through his loan application and support him on his path to accreditation in his new country. “Joyce was empathetic. She really understood the immigrant experience and was patient and very responsive to my questions about the process and procedures,” says Anoop.
